An air quality alert has been issued for Butler County today.
The National Weather Service is classifying the day as a Code Orange, meaning that air pollution concentration may make it difficult for people in sensitive health groups.
That would include children, the elderly, and people with respiratory issues like asthma or lung disease.
They encourage those groups to avoid strenuous activities and to stay indoors as much as possible today.
Central Electric Cooperative added that it’s another peak alert day. They ask that all members do their best to conserve energy during the peak hours of 1-7 p.m. This would include turning off all non-essential electric items and setting your air conditioner at a minimum of 78 degrees.
The CEC also says to shift the use of items such as dehumidifiers, pool pumps, and electric appliances to hours outside of the peak period.
