Albert “Al” Hammer, 79, of Cabot passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh on January 1, 1945 to the late Albert and Helen Hammer. Al attended the University of Pittsburgh before honorably serving in the US Navy in Vietnam on the (USS Reeves DLG-24) from 1965 to 1967. He was employed at HJ Heinz Co. for 35 years before retiring as a computer systems analyst. Al loved astronomy, model railroading, golf, baseball / softball, and enjoyed music from the 50’s and 60’s. He was known for appreciating his long-time friends, especially Dan, Gary, and Mack, and not following the crowd. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and supporter of the VFW and DAV. Al was the beloved husband of Nancy Hammer for 55 years; father of Jennifer (Luke) Holbrook and James (Jill) Hammer; brother of Gary (Debbie) Hammer and Deborah Hall; and grandfather of Lydia Holbrook.
