Albert Campbell “Al” McGrath, 84, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday. March 1, 2021 at the U.P.M.C. Presbyterian.
He was born August 6, 1936 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Lyle and Elizabeth (Campbell) McGrath.
Al worked in management at AK Steel for 42 years retiring in June of 2001. He was a veteran of the United States Army during peace time. Al was an active member of the Rotary Club of Butler. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports, being an avid Steelers fan. He also enjoyed doing charitable work, having served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity as well as other civic groups. Al was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and later First United Methodist Church, serving in both in a variety of leadership roles. Al was a devoted husband of 54 years and a great Dad. His lasting legacy is accepting and caring for others.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Hesselgesser) McGrath whom he married on August 6, 1966; one son, Jeffrey Albert McGrath of Feeding Hills, MA; one brother, Daniel McGrath of TX; a number of nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lila (McGrath) Albert and one brother, Donald McGrath
Friends will be received at Thompson – Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street Butler, PA. on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be private.
Entombment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
Due to Covid-19 State Guidelines, visitors are required to supply their own and to wear a facial masks and adhere to social distancing. Groups are limited to 50 people inside.
