Those dealing with food concerns in our community have a new option to purchase groceries online.
According to the PA Department of Human Services, ALDI has joined a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) pilot program for those receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program also known as SNAP.
Through a partnership with Instacart, SNAP recipients can purchase groceries online from ALDI using SNAP funds. This program launched in June with four other approved retailers including Walmart so people don’t have to make as many trips to public places during the pandemic.
Only eligible food items normally paid for by SNAP are able to be purchased from these retailers online with SNAP benefits. Delivery fees, driver tips, and other associated charges may not be paid for with SNAP benefits. Retailers interested in participating in this program should contact the USDA for information about requirements.
