Alvin George “Al” Rettig, 94, of Cabot, Pennsylvania, went to be with his Savior on December 21, 2020 at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
He was born November 8, 1926 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Adolph A. Rettig and the late Helen A. Protzman.
Alvin served his country and was honorably discharged from the Navy. He spent most of his working career at Armco Steel and retired in 1983. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Cabot, PA where he assisted in the Marriage Encounter, Pre-Cana programs, and mentored young people. Alvin was an Usher, Past Trustee, and was on the Building Committee at the Church. He also supervised the operations of the St. Luke and Gruenwald cemeteries. He enjoyed Western-style square dancing, playing Pinochle, wood working, and traveling to see loved ones.
Al is survived by his children, Robert A. Rettig and his wife, Carol of Frederick, MD, Bonnie S. Isovitsch and her husband, George of Chocowinity, NC, and Roger A. Rettig and his wife Nancy of Butler, PA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one brother, Arnold L. Rettig of Jonesboro, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
We remember and honor those who proceeded him in death: his beloved wife, Bertha; his daughter, Margaret Meindl; his son-in-law, Paul Meindl; and a number of brothers and sisters.

A private burial was held at the graveside for the immediate family at Gruenwald Cemetery.
