President Joe Biden unveiled his $2 trillion infrastructure package last week in Pittsburgh.
The two trillion dollar plan coincides with a multi-year passenger year proposal revealed by Amtrak. Among the plans, restoring service between Philadelphia and Reading for the first time in 40 years.
There would be a second daily train from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh. There would also be another connection from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. Amtrak would also aim to increase connections to Erie.
Amtrak officials say this is a long-term outlook, but in the near-term they can do signal replacements and tunnels; some of which they say are over 100 years old.
