Angela M. DeMatteis, lifelong resident of Butler, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at her residence. She was 91 years of age.
Born in Butler on May 10, 1933, Angela was a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Antonia Nanni DeMatteis.
Angela was a retired employee of Butler County, where she worked for 40 years in the Tax Office and the Controller’s Office.
She was a lifelong member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Angela’s large Italian family, God, her annual Christmas tree, and home were the center of her life and gave her much joy and happiness. She also enjoyed playing chess and jacks!
Surviving are 21 nieces and nephews, and a number of great & great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved parents, Angela was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gervasio and Josephine DeSantis Nanni; two brothers, Dominic DeMatteis and Michaelangelo DeMatteis; and eight sisters, Ann D. Krankota, Clara DeMatteis, Elisa Thomas, Eleanor Lasky, Violet DeMatteis, Sylvia Wigton, Anita Denny, and Joan Jannetti.
She was also preceded in death by one niece, four nephews and seven maternal great uncles.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Tuesday from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with Rev. John Baver officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
