Anna C. Dunlap, 92, a lifelong Chicora resident, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, April 5, 2022 at Sugarcreek Rest.
Anna was born in Chicora on April 22, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Florence Double McCollough.
She was a 1947 graduate of Chicora High School and had been employed as a nurse’s aid at the Chicora Medical Center for more than 30 years. In her earlier years, Anna had been a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Chicora and later became an active member of the Chicora United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School, played the piano, organ and helped with many other church activities. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, flower gardening, and bird watching. Anna had a strong work ethic and was a devoted homemaker. Her life was centered around her faith and family.
Anna was married to Edward C. Dunlap at the First English Lutheran Church in Chicora on March 1, 1951. Mr. Dunlap preceded her in death on July 29, 1998.
Anna is survived by four children, Carol Jackson and her husband, Elvie, of Raleigh, NC, Paul E. Dunlap of Chicora, Joan E. Dunlap and her companion, Paul Dooley, of Somerset, and Brian J. Dunlap and his wife, Sandra, of Summerville, SC; seven grandchildren, Eric Dunlap and his wife, Jody, Michael Dunlap and his wife, Bridget, Trevor Dunlap and his wife, Katie, Mark Jackson, Christie Devoe, Tony Dunlap and his wife, Melissa, and Troy Dunlap and his wife, Crystal; twelve great grandchildren, Alexis, Tyson, Kadence, Kaspian, Harmony, Aiden, Ryder, Cameron, Lillian, Lucas, Savannah, and Gabriel; a brother, Thomas McCollough of Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Margaret “Peg” Kerschbaumer of Brady’s Bend, Thelma Biagini of Belle Vernon, Marilyn Corbett and her husband, Terry, of Chicora, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold “Blue” McCollough and Allen “Smiley” McCollough; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, ArVeda McCollough, Barbara McCollough, Norman “Boots” Biangini, John Kerschbaumer, and Donald and Thelma Dunlap, and two nephews.
Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora, from 12 – 3 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Lewis, pastor of the Chicora United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Glenn Kohlhepp, former pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.
