Annabel “Pete” Myers Cress, age 96, of Butler, peacefully passed away at the Sunnyview Home in Butler on Sunday evening August 6, 2023.
Born August 20,1926 in Karns City; she was the daughter of the late Milford and Annie Sherwin Myers.
She was a lifetime member of St John’s Reformed Church, Butler, and a member of the Women of Faith.
During World War II, she had worked at Pullman Standard, and then worked at the former Troutman’s clothing store in downtown Butler for eleven years. She also served as the Judge of Election for Butler Township for many years.
In her younger years she was the first member of the Meridian Baseball Booster Auxiliary, where she had served as a past President. She also bowled for years in the Lads and Lassies bowling league in Butler. She loved doing crypto quotes, jigsaw puzzles, cross word puzzles, cards, and many other games and puzzles.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Riley of Butler, Dawna Cress and her companion Russell Layton of Butler; two sons Russell (Gloria) Cress of Oil City, Ronald (Jane) Cress of South Carolina; 9 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband DeWitt Junior Cress, whom she married September 12,1947 and who passed away December 16,2013; 1 granddaughter Kelly Riley, 1 grandson Darin Cress, 1 infant great grandson Carson; and her son in law Bernard Riley.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Aug. 9,2023 from 2pm to 7pm, at the Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect.
Funeral Service will be on Thursday, Aug. 10,2023 at 10am, in the Funeral Home, with Rev. Jarod Crawford, officiating.
Interment will be in Butler County Memorial Park, Butler.
