Runners from all over converged on Moraine State Park on Saturday for the annual Glacier Ridge Trail Ultramarathon and Trail Run.
The races started at 6 a.m. on Moraine’s North Shore. There were four separate endurance races featured at the event- a 30K (about 19 miles); a 50K (31 miles); a 50-miler and a 50-mile five-person relay.
There were about 350 racers from 16 states and Canada. Three course records were set this weekend.
Race co-director Tammy McGaughey said the races started in 2011 by two men from Washington, Pa. who frequented the trails.
“We love this park. We love this race. We love this family of people that surrounds the race,” she said.
This marked the race’s eighth year. Proceeds benefit Moraine and McConnells Mill State parks and Jennings Environmental Education Center.
