A unique annual summer camp for young survivors is planned to begin this weekend in southern Butler County.
The West Penn Hospital Burn Center is hosting their 33rd annual summer camp for kids with burn injuries on Saturday through Wednesday, June 5 at Camp Kon-O-Kwee in Zelienople.
The theme of this year’s camp is ‘Under the Sea’ and the Pittsburgh Scuba Center will give scuba lessons. Nearly 30 kids from Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia will share about their journey to recovery as they also visit Kennywood Park and Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium.
The camp is free of charge to kids ages 8 to 16 who have been treated at Allegheny Health Network’s West Penn Burn Center thanks to the fundraising of firefighters and other organizations.
It is a crying shame that these children had to endure so horrific injuries, and it goes without saying that it would have surely been dealt with by an injury attorney (click here for an example), especially if these injuries were someone else’s fault. Injuries like this are not reversible and can cause life long issues, and they can effect anyone, ranging from a child in school to a working adult. If it’s an adult who is effected and has a job, they need to look into things like disability insurance to ensure their source of income is protected whilst they’re off work injured – whether you need doctor disability insurance or teacher disability insurance, it’s an essential in a situation like this. Burn victims need to ensure they get all of the proper treatment too, so they can rcover fully and get back to their normal lives. It is all very unfortunate, hence why it is also such an important cause to raise money for, and to give them these children the same life as other youngsters their age without feeling different.
