Anthony W. “Tony” Gagliardi, age 77, of Herman, passed away Sat., May 22, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian.
Born Nov. 15, 1943 in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Louis and Philomena Markijohn Gagliardi.
He was a 1961 graduate of Springdale High School.
A Vietnam veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Tony was an operating engineer employed through Local 66 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a life member of Local 66.
He was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Parish, Saint John the Evangelist worship site, in Fenelton.
He was also a member of American Legion Post 117 and the Italian Fraternal Society of Butler, and he was a life member of the Herman Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores M. “Dee” Varshine Gagliardi, whom he married Oct. 5, 1963; five children, Denise Voelker and her husband, Paul, of Butler, Louis A. Gagliardi, of Butler, Michael A. Gagliardi and his wife, Sherrie, of Butler, Robert A. Gagliardi and his wife, Angela, of Butler; and Sherry Myers, of Butler; one sister, Carrol Lund, of Florida; and eight grandchildren, Kayla and Kaitlyn Voelker, Kristen Thompson and her husband, Bud, Maggie and Monica Myers, and Austin, Alexis, and Zane Gagliardi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony W. Gagliardi, Jr., who passed away in 1968; and one son-in-law, Mark Myers.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Wed., May 26, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
A Blessing Service will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. James Kurtz, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Deer Creek Cemetery, 902 Russellton Rd., Cheswick.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
