Funds are now available from the federal government to help rural communities improve internet service.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications online for the second round of funding through the ReConnect Rural Broadband Pilot Program with the goal of improving broadband infrastructure.
$200 million in grants are available as well as $200 million in loan and grant combinations and $200 million in low-interest loans are also available. Over $343 million has already been dispensed through the first round of program funding.
Insufficient service is defined as connection speeds of less than 10 megabits per second download and 1 megabit per second upload. Visit the website of the USDA for applications or more information.
