Funds are now available from the federal government to help rural communities improve internet service.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications online through the new ReConnect Rural Broadband Pilot Program with the goal of building modern broadband infrastructure.

Insufficient service is defined as connection speeds of less than 10 megabits per second download and 1 megabit per second upload. On speeds like this, people are unable to load most modern websites, and whilst some have low bandwidth alternatives even these may struggle to open on these download rates.
