April is Donate Life Month, and state officials are encouraging people to become organ donors.
It’s becoming a popular option for Pennsylvanians as more than 5 million residents have opted to become an organ donor—that accounts for more than 50 percent of drivers in the Keystone State.
But Melissa Batula of PennDOT says there is a need for more.
“There are more than 7,000 Pennsylvanians who are currently in need of life-savings organs or tissue transplant,” Batula said. “Getting even more license or photo ID holders to become organ donors would impact more lives than we can possibly imagine.”
To become an organ donor, you can select the option when you’re at the DMV or do it anytime at dmv.pa.gov.
