April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
AAA’s ongoing initiative to end distractive driving is called “Don’t Drive Intoxicated. Don’t Drive Intexticated”. While 96% of motorists believe that it is dangerous to text or email while driving, nearly 40% of drivers admit to doing so within the last month.
In order to focus on driving, AAA recommends that drivers put aside electronic distractions like phones for the duration of their journey, set vehicle systems before putting a vehicle in gear, secure all items, and stay focused on the task of driving.
According to recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 3,000 people died in distracted driving crashes across the country in 2019. For more information on this initiative, visit AAA’s website.
