Arlene J. Howryla, age 84, formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday, November 24,
2019 at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.
Born in Butler on April 1, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Fernand and
Mildred Heilman Fogel.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
Arlene adored her grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. She also
enjoyed crocheting. In addition, she and her husband were avid bowlers.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Howryla, whom she married April 23,
1955; one son, Richard M. Howryla and his wife, Carol, of Butler; one daughter,
Joyce Sheakley and her husband, Baxter, of Butler; one daughter-in-law, Rosemary
Howryla, of Wilmington, NC; six grandchildren, Derrick, Emily, Lisa, Jessica,
Megan and Marylee; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Paul D. Howryla, who passed away October
24, 2011; one granddaughter, Lynette Messick; two brothers, Richard Fogel and
Kenneth Fogel; and three sisters, Jacqueline DiGiacomo, Gaye Dickey and Bernice
Goldinger. Sadly, another sister — Shelley Kutan — passed away in Ohio on
Sunday just five hours after Arlene.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Saint
Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue, Butler, with
Reverend John J. Baver officiating.
Burial will take place in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.
