Thanks to support from Armco Credit Union, four local students recently received financial assistance continuing their education.
Karns City Area Senior High School student Breanna Tomsey was awarded a $1,500 scholarship for her winning essay submitted to the Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions.
Armco Credit Union sponsored three other scholarship recipients who received $500 each through their affiliation with the chapter which represents credit unions in Butler and Beaver Counties.
The winners were selected from 72 applicants from 11 credit unions who each composed a 500 word essay answering a question about how credit union values differ from those of banks.
Armco Credit Union is the second largest credit union in the Pittsburgh area, owned by its 30,000 members, with $370 million in assets.
