At the Olympics:
–The United States accumulated 10 gold medals over the weekend. Golfer Scottie Scheffler was one of the gold medal winners. He shot a course-record-tying 62 to win by one stroke over silver medalist Tommy Fleetwood of Great Britain. Scheffler also becomes the first top world-ranked golfer to win a gold medal.
–American swimmers set two world records over the weekend, and finished with eight gold medals in their events.
–United States sprinter Noah Lyles captured gold in the 100-meter final in a photo finish. After a lengthy review, Lyles won by five-thousandths of a second. He is the first American to win the event since the 2004 Olympics.
