The defense attorneys for the alleged Tree of Life shooter are once again asking to have the death penalty taken off the table.
Attorneys for 50-year-old Robert Bowers argue that the Department of Justice is choosing to pursue the death penalty in an arbitrary manner. They say there are other similar mass shooting incidents, where the DOJ did not seek the death penalty.
The trial for Bowers is set to begin in three weeks.
He’s accused of shooting and killing 11 people at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018. Bower’s has been housed in the Butler County Prison since his arrest.
