Authorities are investigating a recent case of account hacking that impacted a resident in nearby Lawrence County.
According to State Police, a 70-year-old Ellwood City woman reported that she recently made an online purchase utilizing the Affirm credit agency.
The victim told police that she later received an email from Affirm that indicated that other purchases that she did not make were on the account.
Officials say thus far in the investigation, it was determined that at least one unknown person hacked the victim’s Affirm account and made recent purchases totaling nearly $4,000.
It is unclear if the accounts of other local residents have been impacted.
