The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler has finally resolved a longstanding legal dispute about a vacant property in the city of Butler.
At their monthly meeting Thursday afternoon, the Authority approved a Settlement Agreement with Stoney Hollow Nurseries concerning the former Wishing Well property at the corner of 150 South Main Street.
In an end to a legal dispute that has been dragging on for over five years, Stoney Hollow will not have to pay back rent that the Authority claimed was owed. In exchange, the nursery will leave items currently on the property like a wood trellis, rocks, and other landscaping.
The authority has been attempting to sell this property as well as the former Peppers Flowers building at 112 West Cunningham Street since October. NexTier Bank is still deciding about agreeing to forgive a large debt owed on these properties by the Authority when they were purchased between 10 and 20 years ago with a goal of constructing an office complex.
