As we head into the fall, a local organization is asking for help to stock food banks heading into the winter.
Armstrong sponsors the Avenge Hunger Month food drive during September. Daneen O’Donnell is Armstrong’s Community Marketing Manager.
“The real focus is to feed your hungry neighbors. There’s a lot of people who need the help, and we may not realize it,” O’Donnell said.
It’s the second year Armstrong has sponsored the drive to provide food and resources to community food pantries. Last year, nearly 50,000 pounds of food was collected as part of the drive.
O’Donnell said that while September is “Avenge Hunger Month,” Armstrong collects food all year long.
“The Breaking Bread initiative that Armstrong started, that is ongoing program that happens all-year long,” O’Donnell said. “So people can come into our office year round, and bring donations for the Breaking Bread program.”
Butler’s Armstrong location to drop off food is at their South Benbrook Road building.
