Armstrong’s Avenge Hunger Month resulted in major donations in September, but the drive played a larger role in helping get food to those in need.
The annual campaign brought in over 22,000 pounds of food and more than $15,000 in donations last month to help stock shelves of local food banks.
However, Armstrong officials saw the initiative take immediate impact when the Butler Transit Authority went out of service.
The Butler County Food Bank took the donations and delivered food to individuals without transportation.
Avenge Hunger Month highlights the year-long Breaking Bread initiative by Armstrong to bring awareness to hunger in the Butler community.
