Two bills proposed in Harrisburg this week look to make changes to some election laws in the state.
The first bill aims to end the use of drop boxes for ballots. These boxes look similar to mail boxes and are used by some counties in the state. Currently Butler County does not use any drop boxes.
The second bill would eliminate the funding of election departments by outside forces. This point of contention arose after the Mark Zuckerberg-funded non-profit awarded $25 million worth of grants to various counties in the state. Again, Butler County opted not to receive any of these funds.
The Republican leader of the Senate Jake Corman said he would promise more funding to election departments if these bills passed.
