There are four questions that are on the ballot this spring for all voters to decide. But, ballot language can be confusing—so we’re breaking down what these questions actually mean.
Our newsroom spoke with Grove City Political Science Professor Dr. Michael Coutler who detailed exactly what we’re voting on for the first ballot question.
“The simple version is do you permit the legislature to stop an emergency declaration by a governor,” Coulter said.
Coutler said in the summer of last year the legislature tried to end Governor Wolf’s emergency order, but it was vetoed. He says this vote would allow the legislative body to get involved.
“This would allow a simple majority of the legislature to override a governor’s emergency declaration,” Coutler said.
Again this will be the first question on the ballot this spring. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents all have a chance to vote on this question.
