Gayle grew up in Kittanning and had a close relationship with her five sisters and brother. Gayle met Bill and they married in Kittanning in February of 1960. After just a few years as newlyweds, the couple had daughter Tracy Hudson followed by another daughter Patricia Sapp. Bill and Gayle eventually settled in Butler, PA where they spent the majority of their married lives.
In her later years, Gayle enjoyed traveling the world and playing golf with her late husband, Dr. William L. Groft. She also enjoyed bowling, spending time with her family, often accompanied by a competitive game of dominoes; and catching up with friends over a good cup of coffee.
Gayle is survived by her daughters, son-in-law Wesley Sapp, three grandchildren, Kaitlin (Patrick) Stack, William Sapp, and Scott Sapp, as well as her younger brother William (Avis) Mohney and many treasured nieces and nephews. An incredibly strong, fiercely loyal and loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother until the very end, may she rest in peace.
