Barbara M. DiPippa, age 79, of Butler, passed from this life while at home with her family to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Mon., May 16, 2022.
Born in Butler on Dec. 7, 1942, she was a daughter of Italian immigrants Serafino and Filomena Santoro Scarnato and grew up on Cosco Hill.
Barbara was a strong woman of faith and constant servant to others. She had a big personality who loved on everyone she met and enjoyed telling stories. She relished cooking large Italian dinners for family and friends and crocheted blankets for loved ones and nursing home patients up to her final days. She was a member of All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church; the Ladies of Charity; and the Society of Saint Vincent DePaul – Saint Michael Conference. She served as an adoration coordinator at Saint Michael’s for many years. She was also an avid reader of mystery novels. Barb was employed as the office manager at DiPippa Chiropractic and formerly worked as a teller for Mellon Bank.
She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Michele “Mike” DiPippa, whom she married Jan. 23, 1965; three sons, Michael DiPippa, of Butler, Damian DiPippa and his wife, Tammy (Bachman), of Middleburg, Va., and Dr. Matthew DiPippa and his wife, Jacki (Murphy), of Butler; four siblings, Rose McGiffen of Lewistown, Pa., Peter Scarnato, of Tampa, Fla., Isabelle Navolio of Bethesda, Md., and Lucy Rotunda and her husband, George, of Naples, Fla. Her ultimate pride and joy and matriarchal legacy left to this world are seven grandchildren, Michele DiPippa, Joshua DiPippa, Tony DiPippa and his wife, Jordan (Goodrick), Alyssa (DiPippa) Jensen and her husband, Sam, Julianna DiPippa, Morgan DiPippa, and Elana DiPippa. Their Nonna will be greatly missed by everyone.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Sam Scarnato.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Sat. from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat. at noon from All Saints Parish, Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Entombment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery.
