With their transportation contract expiring at the end of the current school year, the Butler Area School District is beginning the process to find out who will be their next provider.
Superintendent Dr. Brian White distributed a draft of a Request For Proposal, or RFP, to school board members at Monday night’s meeting to get any feedback about what they would like to see included.
This RFP would include GPS monitoring for all buses as well as devices that ensure drivers search after every run for children that may have remained on the bus. Pricing could also include routing assistance which some vendors provide. The board also must decide if they would like to open the RFP for multiple companies that would each provide only a portion of the necessary transportation.
Butler’s contract with Valley Lines expires on June 30, 2020 and White would like to see the RFP issued by the end of this month with a deadline of receiving proposals back by December 31st.
