Hundreds of students will graduate from Butler County Community College on Wednesday.
The Class of 2019 will be the largest of this century with 599 graduates, according to the school.
The oldest graduate will be 70-year-old Deborah Carter of Evans City, who is a grandmother of three. Carter will receive an associate degree in social work.
17-year-old Mikayla Beachem of Ellwood City will be the class’ youngest grad. Beachem is one of six high school students who achieved a Workplace Certificate in Entrepreneurship by completing a new program that blended classroom learning with real-world experience.
The president of North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, New York Dr. Steve Tyrell will be the keynote speaker in tonight’s ceremony. BC3 grad and executive director of the Butler YMCA Sandy Ihlenfeld will be this year’s distinguished alumni speaker.
BC3’s commencement exercises will begin at 7 p.m. inside the Field House on the school’s main campus in Butler Township.
