Butler County Community College golfer Troy Loughry won the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference individual men’s golf championship Saturday played at The Links At Spring Church in Apollo. The Pioneers also claimed the WPCC team title and BC3 head coach Bill Miller was named the WPCC Coach of the Year.
Loughry, a Grove City high school graduate, shot a 1-over par 73 Saturday after a first round 74 to complete an eight-stroke victory over teammate Liam Kosior who is a Neshannock grad. Loughry, who qualified four times for the postseason competing within District 10 in high school, became BC3’s eighth WPCC individual champion since 2014. It was also the Pioneers seventh team title since 2013 and Bill Miller was selected top coach for the sixth time in that time period. BC3 was a perfect 11-0 this season.
Sarah Fischer, a Freeport graduate, won the WPCC women’s championship in an uncontested field. She joins her sister Julia as a WPCC champion.
