The Butler County Community College men’s golf team will look to defend their Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championship over the next two days of tournament play at the Links at Spring Church in Apollo. The Pioneers have won three straight WPCC titles and nine of the last 10. The team is led by head coach Bill Miller.
High School Sports from Wednesday:
–North Catholic golfer Ben Kandravy won a two-hole playoff Wednesday to advance into the PIAA Class 2A championship which will be played October 21st and 22nd at Penn State. Kandravy shot a final round 79 yesterday at Sewickley Heights Golf Club, then waited an hour to find out he had to win the playoff to win the 18th and final qualifying spot make the state tournament. He defeated Luke Sikora of Greensburg Salem to move on following the two-day 36-hole WPIAL final.
–North Catholic tennis doubles partners Brea Kelley and Katie Hardy will play for the WPIAL championship after two 10-0 sweeps in the first two rounds and a 6-1, 6-0 win in the semifinals yesterday at North Allegheny high school. The duo will meet Kirsten Close and Avery Allen of Quaker Valley for the championship.
