A Butler County Community College facility will be re-named in the honor of a longtime employee.
The Professor David C. Huseman Center for Economic Education is located in the north wing of the BC3 arts and hospitality building.
The Center is responsible for administering the Stock Market Game in which area students in grades four through 12 receive hypothetical money to make buying and trading decisions as well as the BC3 Entrepreneurship Challenge for high school students to pitch business plans to judges.
“That makes them better consumers, maybe better at savings plans,” Huseman said. “And they learn about things that go beyond the stock market.”
The 78-year-old Huseman has been director of the BC3 Center for Economic Education since it was founded in 1983 and a BC3 employee for a total of 56 years. The space will include a plaque with a picture of Huseman and information about his service at BC3.
“Professor Huseman delivers incredibly important content not only to teachers, but to students throughout northwestern and central Pennsylvania,” BC3 President Dr. Nick Neupauer said.
