Butler County Community College will not be replacing recent retirees in hopes of saving money following the financial impact of the pandemic.
“These are very unique budgetary times, and we are not filling all of the positions. We’re taking our time on some,” BC3 President Dr. Nick Neupauer said.
Neupauer said that like other industries, the college has had to look at ways to save money because of the pandemic. He thinks this is a prudent cost saving measure.
“We estimate that through the end of this academic year these retirements, even with the incentives, will generate about $500,000 to $525,000 savings to the college,” Neupauer said. “Moving forward for next year’s budget, we think this will save about $900,000, give or take a little, to help us with the budget.”
Neupauer said he appreciates the work of the more than a dozen employees who are retiring at the end of the year.
