It was an unusual night in New Castle earlier this week as police and a warden from the game commission worked to get a bear out of tree.
It happened Monday night around 9 p.m. when a woman hit a bear with her vehicle on East Washington Street. The bear then walked a couple of blocks before climbing a tree—and never getting out.
A warden from the Game Commission was called to use a tranquilizer to get the bear out of the tree.
Once subdued, the bear was taken back out to a rural area and released into the woods.
