A Pittsburgh Pirate and Mars Area High School graduate will receive an honor later this week as part of an event.
David Bednar (Class of 2013) will be in attendance during a Pep Rally Friday at 2 p.m. as his high school varsity baseball number is 24 retired.
Pittsburgh Pirates bench coach Don Kelly will say a few words about Bednar followed by an unveiling of Bednar’s framed high school and Pirates jerseys which will be displayed at the school.
This event will also include recognition of members of Mars winter sports teams as well as members of the school’s Varsity Club concluding their Free Throw Contest fundraiser with a teacher versus student competition.
