Bernard McTighe, 84, of Butler passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh on December 6, 1938 to the late Bernard and Luella (Gamble) McTighe Sr. After graduating from Aspinwall High School in 1956 Bernard worked as a project manager for Raymond H. Smith Construction. After retirement he drove for Diehl Auto. Bernard was known for being a hard worker, great husband, father, and loved watching deer and turkey from his living room window. One of Bernard’s passions was raising and showing Belgian draft horses which he did for decades. He was also a very giving man and was Santa Clause for Butler children for over 26 years. His most important memory was taking his family on the Appalachian Wagon Train annually for over 20 years. Bernard was loved and will be forever missed. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Mann) McTighe since their marriage in 1960; father of Melissa McTighe, Jay (Shellie) McTighe, Kevin (Angela) McTighe, Brian McTighe, and John (April) McTighe; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his two sisters and brother. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 12 – 2 PM at SPENCER D.
