Despite a rather significantly redrawn district, State Representative Aaron Bernstine will win another term in Harrisburg.
Bernstine held off two Republican challengers in the new 8th House District to secure the nomination.
Farmer and Mars school board member John Kennedy finished in second, garnering more than 40 percent of the vote. Seneca Valley board member Eric DiTullio brought in around 10 percent of the vote.
While Kennedy won the Butler County vote by around 1,300 votes, Bernstine ran up the total in his native Lawrence County. He recorded over 2,800 votes there, compared to Kennedy’s 502.
Bernstine will not face any Democrats in the general election—essentially securing his fourth term in Harrisburg.
All results are unofficial until approved by the county’s election board.
