Betty “Betsy” (Bender) Madliger, 74, of Butler passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 10, 1950, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Jean (Hazlett) Bender. Betsy retired from the Butler Senior High School Food Service after 32 years as a dishwasher and cashier. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, bowling, bingo, cross-stitching, and attending monthly dinners with the “lunch ladies”.
She was a longstanding member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler. Betsy was also an active member of the Butler Moose #64.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 51 years, Richard “Skip” Madliger, whom she married on July 1, 1973. Betsy is also survived by her children, Richard (Crystal) Jr., Robin (Dave), and Amber (Romondo) Madliger; her grandchildren, David (Emilee) Howell III, Laycia (Benjamin) Ellis, Dominick Boyer, Amari Madliger, Caleb and Lexxi Cress, and Zaria Alexander; her three brothers, Louis Bender Jr., Pat (Fran) Bender, and Gene (Linda) Bender; as well as several nieces and nephews and her large extended family. Along with her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her stepmom, Amelia “May” Bender.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 6-8 PM at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 NEW CASTLE RD. BUTLER, PA 16001. WWW.SPENCERDGEIBEL.COM.
