Betty Jean Staley-Dickey, 77, of Butler, PA passed away on March 24, 2025 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born on November 4, 1947, in Butler, PA, to the late Paul M. Murphy and Amy M. (Sarvey) Murphy.
Betty Jean graduated from Butler High School in 1965. She was one of the first of two 911 Dispatchers in Butler County, and served 30 years. Also, Betty Jean was an original hire at Boscov’s and worked there for over 20 years.
Betty Jean was Christian by faith and a devoted servant of God. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and was involved with children’s church, lady’s bible study, and youth group. Betty Jean enjoyed spending time outdoors, hiking, and biking, especially at Moraine and Freeport Rails to Trails. Betty Jean loved giraffes, Snoopy, and her two cats. Above all, Betty Jean adored her family. She always hosted family gatherings, holidays, and birthday celebrations.
She is survived by sons, Robert T. Staley, Jr., and Brian P. Staley; sister, Nancy Murphy-Daw; brother, Donald (Suzan) Murphy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert T. Staley, Sr. and second husband, William R. Dickey, whom she remained close with both families.
A Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday March 31, 2025 at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday April 1, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001, with Pastor Dave Maitland officiating.
A Burial will be held at Greenlawn Burial Estates. Please RSVP at the link below.
