As COVID cases continue to climb across the country as a result of the Delta variant, local doctors are urging caution that it’s most likely in Butler County too.
Infectious Disease specialist Dr. John Love wrote to our newsroom that Butler Memorial Hospital doesn’t have the ability to sequence for the virus.
But, with the Delta variant now the predominant strain of COVID, he says it’s safe to presume it is circulating in Butler.
“Bottom line: it’s here. Get vaccinated. Wear masks at least as much as the CDC recommends (maybe more),” Love said in an email.
The number of cases in Butler County has nearly doubled over the past seven days according to information from the state Department of Health.
