A bill now headed to the Governor’s desk seeks to look into the growing number of women in Pennsylvania who die within a year after giving birth.
The bill- which won unanimous Senate approval- would create a 14-member Maternal Mortality Review Commission.
According to the state Health Department, maternal deaths in Pennsylvania have almost doubled between 1994 and 2014.
The bill now heads to Governor Tom Wolf after previously winning unanimous approval in the House.
