A bill to be introduced in the state House would benefit elderly homeowners in Pennsylvania.
The bill would freeze local property tax rates for eligible homeowners ages 65 and older. It would apply to seniors with established residency in the state, who have paid property taxes for at least five years prior to applying for the freeze. In addition, combined household income could not exceed $65,000 per year unless the tax liability totals at least 10 percent of annual income. S
upporters say the bill would provide a needed first step toward total property tax relief in Pennsylvania.
