A bill that would legalize and create state stores to sell recreational marijuana was defeated in a senate committee.
The Law and Justice Senate Committee rejected the House Bill 1200 by a vote of seven to three.
Senators argued against how the bill was written which would have created a state store and provided state investments. Senators also argued that those who look to purchase marijuana would cross state lines.
The vote was split along party lines but Democratic State Senator Lisa Boscola voted with Republicans.
The bill has died in senate committees.
