A bill to rename the downtown Butler post office is now on the way to the President’s desk for a signature.
Congressman Mike Kelly’s office announced that the United States Senate unanimously passed the bill to rename the Main Street Post Office after Civil War veteran Andrew Gomer Williams.
“I want to thank my colleagues in the U.S. Senate for supporting this bill. Andrew Gomer Williams lived a life of service to his community and country, and I am proud to cement his legacy in our nation’s history,” Kelly said in a statement. “This is a great honor for a man who selflessly served his community and his country.”
It’s not known when President Joe Biden will sign the bill.
