A new bill that has entered into the State Senate would provide more money to SNAP recipients in exchange for purchasing healthy products.
The PA Food Bucks Program for SNAP Recipients would see those receiving benefits get $0.40 for every $1 spent on healthy food options.
Options include fruits and vegetables in fresh, canned, dried, or frozen without any added sugars, fats, oils or salt.
The bill passed the House with bipartisan support 171-30 and now moves to committee in the senate before an official vote on the senate floor.
