This weekend in the Lyndora neighborhood is the 3rd annual Blessing of the Bikes.
It’s an event that began locally three years ago but started nationwide in 1972.
The Blessing of the Bikes mark the beginning of riding season and Lance Stodart who is helping organize the event is asking drivers to look twice for riders.
“One of the sayings you see a lot is to ‘Look twice and save a life’ and I think that is very wise counsel,” Stodart said. “Remember that bikes are out there on the road and take the time to look for them.”
A pastor from Allison Park Church Butler Campus will be doing the blessings and there will be a moment to acknowledge the four riders who have passed in accidents in the last year.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and the blessing starts at 10 a.m. and after the blessing all are invited to gather and talk with each other. Food will be provided.
No registration is required, the event is rain or shine, and all riders of all bikes are welcomed to the blessing.
