The Butler County Housing and Redevelopment Authority hopes to get back to tackling blight issues this year.
The pandemic slowed the authority’s work last year according to officials. On average, the authority handles about 15 homes each year across various municipalities in the county. Blighted homes are considered to encompass vacant lots, abandoned buildings, and houses in derelict or dangerous shape, as well as environmental contamination.
The county also approved a request by the authority to use $25,000 in fee funds from the Recorder of Deeds office to supplement the blight mitigation program.
