Healthy community members are encouraged to help neighbors in need through participation in a couple of upcoming blood drives.
The first American Red Cross drive is coming up on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Old Union Presbyterian Church in Mars.
Another drive is planned for Monday (11/30) from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Prospect.
Blood donation supplies have been low as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the holiday season is a time of increased need. Anyone who donates at the drive on Friday in Mars will receive a Red Cross long-sleeved t-shirt while supplies last.
Those interested in donating at either drive are asked to make an appointment through the website of the American Red Cross, the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Red Cross will be testing blood donations for COVID-19 antibodies.
