With World Blood Donor Day coming up next week, the American Red Cross is offering opportunities for residents to help those in need of blood through the end of this month.
A blood drive is happening Wednesday in Harmony from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grace Church of Harmony on Main Street. Additional drives are planned for next Wednesday (6/14) at Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock and June 21st at Meridian Fire Hall.
Although over 2 million people volunteer to give blood every year with the Red Cross, blood donations are typically low in the summer months as many people take trips and have other activities going on.
Anyone able to donate should make an appointment through the website of the American Red Cross, the Red Cross Blood Donor App, or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
